Loafers deli opened its doors in Mackeurtan Ave, in Durban north in 2011, with a view to having a small neighbourhood bakery/deli and doing outside catering. We traded in this way very slowly with lots of challenges along the way. There were many other organisations doing the similar thing so we looked to make a difference and this happened when Tim Noakes visited Durban in 2014 to launch his book, The Real Meal Revolution.
Loafers had constantly been asked by customers to make and supply “Banting”/low carb bread and other products. Knowing nothing about the diet or lifestyle and its cooking methods, we set about learning. The next chapter in our lives began. We now have a Loafers central kitchen where all the food is prepared and brought across to Loafers Low Carb Superstore in Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Durban North (next to Mica, behind KFC up the ramp). At this store we sell our own range of low carb products as well as many other low carb ranges and labels and offer our customers a one-stop, low carb shop.
Loafers Low Carb Superstore now supplies many other shops and outlets around the country with our low carb products and our growing market is testimony to the success of low carb living.
